Harry Potter is unbelievable. All seven books are amazing. JKR literally created a new world. The books are written fantastically, and the plots of every single one of them are amazing. The theme behind the book is amazing. The books actually have the ability to make you *think*. The suspense of the books are amazing... JKR totally took us all by surprise at least a few times within the series. The books are never boring-- they always have you on yours toes. She's brilliant. She's such a genius storyteller; it's amazing. Every single character is amazing, and they are easy to connect with (from Harry to Bellatrix, Voldemort to Dumbledore, Hagrid to Ron, Hermione to Neville, whoever). You get to ';grow up'; with Harry during the books, since he gets older in each one. It gets to the point where you feel like you know each character individually. Almost every single character does something to move the story along, and almost every character contributes something. The intricacy behind the series is just so amazing.
And on top of that, Harry Potter appeals to both males and females of all ages. They are read by *all* sorts of people. They aren't limited to just *one* age group.

I like New Moon and Eclipse a lot. They are two of my favorite books (but only because Jacob is in them). Twilight on the other hand...
First off, I don't think it's a well written novel. I cringe when I read certain parts of it; some of the sentences seem to be run-ons, make no sense, or don't flow well.
The characters suck. You know nothing about them like you do the characters in Harry Potter. All you know about Edward is: He's a vampire, he loves Bella, and he can play the piano. All you know about Bella is: She's a clutz, doesn't like parties, she likes to whine, and likes to read. Both characters seem to lack any sort of depth to me... they seem like empty eggshells. I can't connect with Edward or any of the vampires at all, and I can barely connect with Bella. They are too unrealistic and too cliche. There is NO character development in the series at all. Bella thinks Edward can do no wrong, and Edward thinks Bella can do no wrong. Their relationship is COMPLETELY unrealistic, because that's not how boyfriends and relationships work. At all. Their relationship is confusing and hard to understand. You don't even know *why* they love each other so much... they just do. I mean you didn't see the process of them falling in love very much-- one day they were biology partners, and the next they were madly in love.
The minor characters are nothing more than names-- you could take Emmett, Rosalie, half of the werewolves, Renee, Phil, and Aro out of the story and it would barely affect it. The minor characters do absolutely nothing for the story.
The plot sucks. It's too cliche and too ';happy ever after';. There is no suspense in the book; you can pretty much call out everything that will happen *before* it happens. There were no shocks for me throughout the series-- I was expecting everything that happened.
There are very few impressive themes throughout the book. As of now, the theme I'm getting is ';Do anything to keep your boyfriend around';. Don't get me wrong, I love the Twilight series (with the exception of Twilight)... but they don't make you think at all. They are just chick flicks on novel form, that's all.
The climax lasts all of 10-20 pages. They aren't suspenseful books.
Twilight's appeal extends to teenage girls... and that's about it. Boys usually hate it; adults don't typically read them. They are only popular because most teenage girls are obsessed with Edward (I HATE EDWARD!).
Like I said... no comparison for me. The fact that people can even compare Twilight to Harry Potter boggles my mind. Harry Potter is by FAR the better series. The plot is MUCH better, the theme behind the series is MUCH more impressive, and JK Rowling is a MUCH better author. How can people even compare twilight to harry potter. everybody knows HP is wayy better?
I agree, but don't waste your time stating the obvious :DHow can people even compare twilight to harry potter. everybody knows HP is wayy better?
It's All About Opinion. That's Your Opinion And You Have A Right To It, Just Like How People Have A Right To Their Own Opinion. Just Because You Think Harry Potter Is Better Doesn't Mean Everyone Else Should.
I bet you don't type this much when it comes to homework.
Stay out of this section and go to the tweens section.
Okay 1st:Jacob sucks and edward rocks.
2nd:just because you dont like a book or think one book is better than the other doesnt mean its the same for another person.
and 3rd:i do agree with you on the fact that the 2 books should not be compared.
To answer your question about them automatically falling in love...Edward is drawn to bella because of her overwhelming scent that he cant resist, and bella is obviously drawn to danger.(hint hint: Edward is the so called ';danger';)and there is something about him that makes it SO hard for her to stay away from him!!!
but i dont really think that harry potter is a very good book, let alone movie.when i read or watch i just loose intrest and cant continue...and it take alot for me to lose intrest in somethingg!!!
i really hope this helped..and really hope i didnt offend you...i tend to do that alot!
Harry Potter is wayyy better. It's original, and I'm pretty sure there were a heap of vampire ooks out before twilight. Also the actors in the HP movies can actually act, unlike rob pattz and kristin stewart.
